another montana rainbow

Life is good. Fishing is better. We are wrapping up our season in Montana and Wyoming before Capt. C leaves to guide for steelhead on the Trinity River in Northern California. He will be running trips until the end of October and Steve Beaz will be covering the winter trips as always. Fishing is September is over looked as most people are hunting in the Mountains.

We have openings left in September and October. Give us a call @ 307-438-0740

Thermopolis Wyoming Fly Fishing Report 9.22.12

Paul B with a beautiful streamer caught rainbow!

Cold nights and warm days have made for some incredible fishing on the Bighorn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. We have been out everyday since the 3rd of September and will continue guiding into November. Fishing on the river has been great. Streamers, Nymphs, and of course Dries have all been catching fish.  The Hopper bite has started to slow down, but it is still producing some big fish if you stick to it all day. We have been out chasing heads most mornings and nights looking for the “ONE.” Give us a call if you would like a day with one of our amazing guides. We guarantee you will catch fish or you will get your money back. Give us a call. 307.438.0740

A beautiful Rainbow from the Yellowstone River

Sorry for the lack of updates. We have been on the river every day. Capt C. has been guiding in Montana and will be returning to guide for the month of September and October. Steve Beaz has been out on the Bighorn River and recently just put up a 23″ rainbow on top! The MOSS is dying off and fishing has remained consistent. Terrestrials are the name of the game for those that enjoy  the dry fly. Bobbers are working but……..thats another story. Streamers have been taking some big fish throughout the entire river system.

The Statepark stretch below Boysen has been fishing well and is always an option. Standard Tailwater fair. UV Czech, Blooms Weight Fly, Tailwater Tiny. Midge. Scud. Some are running the short leash in the afternoon and doing well. You do not need a ton of weight. Get after it. The river is fishing all the way from the dam to below town. Give us a call if you want in. 307.438.0740

Reach Cast from scumliner media on Vimeo.

The dry fly fly fishing remains excellent on the Bighorn River and Wind River in Wyoming. This video is from the Mark and John over at Headhunters Fly Shop with their reach cast how to. This is our preferred cast on the Bighorn River for rising fish as well. The Missouri and the Bighorn have many similarities in terms of dry fly fishing. Our guides are familar with this cast and will teach it to you on the river. Check it out and give us a call.
