hoover enjoying the views of the wind river canyon

duane with an average rainbow

duane and hoover with a brown to end the day

got out friday with clients duane and hoover on the jet-boat below boysen. duane was from texas and hoover from arkansas and both extremely enjoyable to guide on the river. we left the hotel at 5:00 to get on the water before it got too warm. we started with streamers on the first drift and quickly switched to a nymph rig which was the ticket. it was a crash course in how to fight big fish and we quickly broke off our 1st three big fish. after settling down we continued to hit fish throughout the day on yellow sally nymphs and a bunch of different emergers. our last drift was one to remember. 3 fish hooked and lost with a fourth being landed. it was an enjoyable day for both clients and myself and I am looking forward to duane returning with his brother in law to get his revenge on the big boys that got away. enjoy the weather and fishing because fall will be here before we know it. give us a call at 307.438.0740 for your august trip. we still have a lot of open days in august which is prime hopper fishing.

giving back….

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Yesterday evening we joined the local angling club, Popo Agie Anglers to clean up about a mile or so of Sinks Canyon Road. We picked up quite a bit of garbage and found some odd items. It was for a great cause and I am glad we joined. Be sure to join us at the 20th Annual Popo Agie Angler Fundraiser on June 5th. It is sure to be a good time. 307 outfitters is donating a jet-boat trip to the silent auction so be sure to come out and enjoy the fun. The fishing has been consistent and the flows are looking perfect so far this season. I will be going up to Montana for the week to film and do a photo shoot with the owner of Kingpin Centerpins and another member of the pro-staff. I cannot wait and we will be testing out the new IMPERIALS which are Kinpins new line of centerpin reels. They are designed with the inland pin fisherman in mind. Enjoy the weekend and be sure to get out and fish!

good fishing, interesting weather

Monday, April 26th, 2010

here are a few photos from the week. it has been a great past few days. the weather has been uncooperative for the most part, but if you can handle the constant wind and weather this fishing is really solid. I have had the opportunity to fish for myself this past week and its been a lot of fun. lander is a great town, the people are friendly, the views are spectacular, and the fish willingly take a fly. I have met a lot of very receptive people so far and look forward to this upcoming summer.  one contact in particular, ron hansen, of Wind River Outdoors Company, http://www.windriveroutdoorcompany.com/ just solved my biggest problem of living in lander, last minute fly fishing supplies that are close by. his shop is going to opened up by the end of May and if you are ever in the Lander area be sure to stop by and say hello. the wind is supposed to pick up tomorrow and ill be on the river. standard. this time I will bring a camera. I managed to stick a big hen a few nights ago. I taped her out at 26.5. life is good.
