WIND with more WIND…

Monday, April 5th, 2010

but we still cleaned up. converted yet another die hard fly fisherman to the darkside of the centerpin world. when fishing with two pins its incredible effective to anchor and fish 2 at a time. so we did just that after running drifts with the boat and fly rods. we found a corner out of the wind and worked our way down a run 2 times. it took the entire afternoon to do 2 laps on the run. it was wicked busy, but the fishing was solid and I was glad to be on the jetboat rather than the bank… 2 memorable parts of the day included… getting a bank fisherman’s nalgene water bottle that was floating down the river for him and then him asking us what the hell we were using and doing to catch so many fish. the other highlight of the day was watching pmo run 100 yard drifts and hit fish on them with the 12 foot 6 inch speypin… one to remember.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Stuart Ward of Kingpin Reels for hooking me up with a new Sovereign 478. such an amazing reel. it just keeps on spinning… looking forward to seeing the new IMPERIALS when they come out….

man it feels great to be back west. i have managed to fish 3 out of the past 5 days. life is good. so is the fishing. centerpin and fly rod…. didnt matter both worked. but for nymphing fly fishing cannot come close to pin fishing. not even close. not worth arguing with me either. there are a few drifts, such as shelfs and with certain depth changes that the fly rod does better. but if you nymph get a pin setup. trust me.

i have been swamped with work and this course I am taking in nyc. its been a long hectic week of commuting and studying. it has been interesting to say the least. i really wish I brought my camera with me. every night i take the shuttle from grand central to times square then walk 6 blocks west. the shit i have seen amazes me. good food and crazies. I have been lucky enough to convince stuart the owner of kingpin center pin reels and the new england rep danny to come pin fish with me this may. it will be a nice break from wyo and will bring me back to the MO. im looking forward to it. plus we get to fish a bunch of new prototypes and new troutpins. i cannot wait. this course ends sunday and i test monday. wish me luck i fucking need it.

it’s no biggie, I’m just the king now

i have been back in CT since the 9th. i came home to a monster snowstorm and serious winds, you would have thought you were in Montucky. i will be spending the next week in nyc taking a course and catching up with old friends that call the big apple home. i love ny but i don’t think I could live there full time. in fact i know i couldn’t because I would be broker than I already am. it should be a good time minus going back to school again! austen, my web and design guy has been busy with the logo and the site. i had no clue how difficult it would be to design a logo. i am pretty sure austen wants to kill me after turning down so many comps.
